When it's time to potty-train your toddler

Do you know that using disposable pull-ups actually makes it more difficult to potty-train toddlers? The material in pull-ups make toddlers feel dry, which makes them less aware of when they've wet themselves and therefore less conscious of their need to go to the bathroom!

"I really love these trainers. My 3 yo has been recently potty training... We used the Kissaluvs pocket trainer before switching him to underwear and I must say they are a nice transition. They felt like big boy underwear, but still gave us the protection we needed if he peed his pants.... It's a really nice fit. There are two sets of snaps so you can adjust for the perfect fit." - From Lifewithmylittles.blogspot.com

"[Wahmies One Size] Not only do I love the print and feel of these [Kissa's pocket trainer] training pants, I love how the snaps are easy to get on and off and how trim fitting they are. I like that if my child had an accident it would hold something, but my daughter instantly felt wet and headed to the potty. I will definitely be getting more of these when I begin potty training my youngest." - From Diaperpin.com

"[Wahmies One Size] We're beginning to potty train our 2 year old. [Kissa's pocket trainers] are fantastic! I love that you can add inserts for over night, or to just use it as a pocket diaper if you're not ready to potty train yet, but it's on the horizon. I LOVE the adorable prints on the inside! My son requests the ""dine-saurs"" diaper all the time! Such a good idea! You can tell your little one not to poo poo on the dinosaurs ;). Love this trainer!" - From Diaperpin.com

"[Wahmies One Size] Imse Vimse training pants are definitely our favorite cloth training pants, and also the most popular for our customers! They fit like real underwear, look like real underwear, and are so fun for kids to wear." - From Jilliansdrawers.com

Training Pants FAQ's

Kissa's Pocket Trainer

(1) What are training pants?

Training pants are a cross between diapers and underwear, and are meant to help your potty-training child make the transition from diapers to normal underwear. Unlike diapers, they are shaped like underwear, and are meant to be pulled on and off by your toddler. However, like diapers they can hold in accidents so your toddler doesn't make a mess on the floor.

(2) How do I use Kissa's training pants?

Kissa's training pants are pulled on like regular underwear. They can also be pulled off like regular underwear, but Kissa's training pants come with side snaps so Mommy or Daddy can pull them without making a mess if your child has an accident. The side snap also make them easy to change quickly without having to take all of your toddler's clothes off.

(3) How do I use Imse Vimse training pants?

Imse Vimse training pants are pulled on and off like regular underwear.

(4) I use disposable pull-ups for my toddler. Why should I use cloth training pants instead?

Disposable pull-ups actually prevent children for learning to potty-train, because they make your child feel dry! In contrast, using cloth training pants speeds up potty-training.

The cost of using cloth training pants is equal to or even cheaper than the cost of using disposable pull-ups! And if you have more than one child, they definitely come out cheaper because the next child can use the same training pants!

Finally, cloth training pants are better for the environment because you won't be adding disposable pull-ups to our already over-burdened landfills!

(5) How many pairs of Training Pants do I need?

It depends on how often your child has accidents, and how often you do the laundry, but four to six is a good number if you do the laundry everyday. Most parents switch back and forth between diapers and training pants at first, and then later let their child wear training pants more and more often as their child has less accidents.

(6) They seem expensive ....

In the long-run, they actually cost about the same or even less than disposable pull-ups. On average, it takes about 3 to 6 months to potty-train a toddler. Most parents gradually switch from diapers to training pants or pull-ups as the child grows in potty-training confidence.

Following this method, if you use an average of 2.5 disposable pull-ups per day, that will cost you P5,625 to P11,250 per child over the course of potty-training.

On the other hand, four to six pairs of training pants will cost you P3,560 to P5,760 and your next child can use them as well!

(8) How do I wash these training pants?

Remove solid waste. Machine-wash or handwash with half of the regular amount of detergent you normally use. Avoid using detergent with fabric softener or other additives. The training pants can be dried in a dryer on medium or line-dried.

If you have hot water, you may machine-wash on hot. If you have a tumble-dryer, you may dry on hot once a month (medium the rest of the month).

Do not use fabric softeners or bleach.
