Does your baby have sensitive skin? Does he wake up frequently because of a wet lampin? Or do you simply want a cloth diaper that's as easy to use as a disposable?
Use a fitted diaper in place of a regular lampin. The US-made diapers we carry are reusable, rewashable cloth diapers that are shaped like disposables but with elastic leg bands and easy-to-attach Velcro or snap closures.
The Thirsties Duo Fab Fitted diaper has an inner microfiber terry soaker that absorbs 7 times its weight in liquid. Kissa's Organics are a bulkier diaper, but they're also more absorbent. The fold-down snap system can be a little confusing at first, but once you figure it out, it's a breeze. The fabric is luxuriously soft. If you're line-drying, take it out of the sun when it's still slightly damp so it stays super-soft wash after wash.
The patterns of Marvels are so cute. Even though they're more expensive, they're one-size diapers, so they're meant to last all the way to toddlerhood. They're also quite durable, and the fabric they're made from is luxuriously soft.

To use the Thirsties hemp insert with your Thirsties Fab Fitted diaper, simply put it beneath the soaker.
To use the Thirsties diaper cover with any pocket diaper, simply put the hemp insert behind the insert that you usually use with your pocket diaper.
*Before first use, wash in hot water or boil and dry the Thirsties hemp insert three times to rid the fibers of natural oils and increase absorbency. Inserts will be at their maximum absorbency after 8 washes. It is normal for the Thirsties hemp insert to shrink after boiling.

(1) How do I use fitted diapers?
Put it on baby just like you would put on a disposable! For extra waterproof protection, use a Thirsties Diaper Cover or Thirsties Duo Wrap over it.

(4) I'm happy with disposables. Why should I use cloth diapers?
Cloth diapers are better for baby. Less diaper rashes. No harsh chemicals. In contrast, many disposable diapers contain trace amounts of dioxin (a probable carcinogenic), TBT (a highly toxic chemical), and harsh perfumes.
Cloth diapers are better for you. They're cheaper: 24 lampin and 4 Thirsties diaper covers (good for about 6 months) will cost you around P4000, while 6 months' worth of disposable diapers costs P11000 - P18000! Cloth-diapered babies are also easier to potty-train!
Cloth diapers are better for Mother Earth. You won't be adding disposable nappies to our already over-burdened landfills.
(5) How long wil each size last?
Babies vary greatly in size and shape, but following average weight gain:
Thirsties Size One- birth to approximately 9 months old
Thirsties Size Two - 8.5 months old to approximately 36 months old
Kissa's NB - birth to approximately 6 months old
Kissa's M/L - 6 months old to appoximately 4.5 years old
Marvel One-Size Fitted - approximately 2 months to 3 years old
This is based on international reference standards; average Filipino babies may be a little smaller in size. Please also note that breastfed babies gain weight more quickly than formula-fed babies in the first three months of life, then gain weight more slowly than formula-fed babies from 3 to 12 months old.
(6) Are the Thirsties Fab Fitted and Marvel One-Size Fitted diapers suitable for use at night?
If you don't intend to change your baby's nappy in the middle of the night, put an additional doubler layer between the Fab fitted diaper or Marvel Fitted Diaper and the Thirsties diaper cover for additional absorbency. For bullet-proof absorbency, use a Thirsties hemp insert between the fitted diaper and the diaper cover.
(7) Is the Kissa's Organic diaper suitable for use at night?
Yes, it is! Because of the super-absorbent hemp material, Kissa's organic diapers are great for overnight use! Just pair the Fitted diaper with a Thirsties diaper cover to prevent leaks. The organic diaper already comes with a doubler.
(8) Can you tell me more about organic cotton and hemp?
Organic cotton is the perfect fabric for diapers. Not only does this pure fabric provide the best for your baby, it's also environmentally safe. It is grown without any harmful sprays, chemicals, or pesticides. It's what gives our diapers that character and natural color. Organic cotton takes substantially more time and effort to cultivate, and therefore costs more, but it's worth it. Your baby gets its native goodness and our earth is better cared for, when we don't take shortcuts. A win-win for all!
Hemp plant has been around for thousands of years and is known for its sturdiness and durability. It is one of the most, if not the most durable natural fiber known to mankind. It is naturally anti-bacterial and requires no irrigation, uses no herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and gets harvested and processed by hand. Its positive environmental impact and naturally anti-bacterial properties make it a wonderful choice for our diapers. Its porous nature provides superior absorbency and makes it softer with each wash.
Before first use, hemp needs to be washed in hot water around three times to get rid of the natural oils, to make it more absorbent. Rapid-boiling it for a few minutes will also work. Hemp becomes more and more absorbent after each wash!
